In our school we follow the ‘Come and See’ Catholic Primary Religious Education Programme.
‘Come and See’ offers the opportunity for children to search, to explore, to discover and to respond; this is part of what it is to be human.
Come and See the wonder of all that is within them and beyond them
Offers the invitation to Come and See
Facilitate the opportunity for children to Come and See
Come and See is developed through three themes based on the documents of the Second Vatican Council, which are explored in each year group, each time at a greater depth. They are ‘Church’, ‘Sacrament’, and ‘Christian Living’.
Each term there are basic questions and beliefs that are explored through three kinds of themes:
Community of Faith – Church
Celebration in ritual – Sacraments
Way of Life – Christian Living.
Pray, Stop, Go
As you know, our school supports many charities such as Mission Together and CAFOD (the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development). Like these charities, we believe that poverty and suffering is not part of God’s plan and that, as a Catholic community, we should do something to help our neighbours, both at home and abroad, who are struggling.
Therefore, as part of our ‘Pray, Stop, Go’ Lenten mission, we are challenging our pupils to give it up this Lent – to give up something they like and donate the saved money to help build a better world.
Each ‘House’ in school will be working together to raise money for their nominated charity:
Matthew House- Mission Together
Mark House – CAFOD
Luke House – Zoe’s Place
John House – Mary’s Meals
The house that manages to raise the most for their charity will be rewarded in school. This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to contribute to the wider community and we know they will be well supported as always.
We are sending home with your child a sponsor form and list of suggested ideas. Please ensure that donations are returned to school by Wednesday 28th March for which charities.
Thank you again for supporting your son or daughter in his/her efforts to reach out to the world’s neediest communities.
